Learn Glogster Tools Part 2

Use the large black Magnet Tool first, to add elements to your page.

Large Black MAGNET TOOL Box Instructions

  1. Graphic

    • Click the “Graphic” button.
    • Look through the static and animated graphics.
    • When you see something you may want to use, click and drag it to your editing page.
    • Once it’s on your page, you can use the individual element small black box editing tools.
    • The premium version has a much bigger library of graphics from which to choose, and I believe it’s also more organized.

      Graphics Example

Graphics Example - I opened the "Graphics" box, and clicked and dragged the blue bunny to the editing page.

  2. Text

    • Click the “Text” button.
    • Look through the text and text box options.
    • When you see something you may want to use, click and drag it to your editing page.
    • Once it’s on your page, you can use the individual element small black box editing tools.

      Text Box Example

Text &/or Text Box Example - I opened the "Text" window, and clicked and dragged the orange and yellow text box to the editing page.

  3. Image

    • Click the “Image” button.
    • There will be three options at the top of the box that opens on your screen: Upload, Link or Grab.
      • Upload - Upload an image from your computer or flash drive.
      • Link - Enter a link and you will be shown what elements can be taken from that web page. Often, I have found that the element I wanted to take was not available by this method. (Flash elements cannot be ‘lifted’ from a web site to use as a still image; however, ‘lifting’ items from a website is a type of plagiarism, so students should be told not to do it anyway unless the image is public domain.)
      • Grab - This tool allows you to take a picture of yourself using your web cam. This option can only be used at home if a student has a webcam.
    • Once you Upload, Link or Grab your image, click and drag it to your editing page.
    • Note: There are Upload, Link and Grab buttons at the top of your glog editing page which you can click at any time to access the Image, Video or Sound acquiring options explained here.

      • Link - Enter a link and you will be shown what elements can be taken from that web page. Often, I have found that the element I wanted to take was not available by this method. This is quite useful for acquiring a video from a video sharing site.
      • Grab - This tool allows you to take a video of yourself using your web cam. This option can only be used at home if a student has a webcam.
    • Once you Upload, Link or Grab your video, click and drag it to your editing page.

  8. Wall

    • You have three choices for your “Glog Wall”:
      • Look through the wall options. Then click and drag your choice to the editing page.
      • Choose an image from your image uploads. Then click and drag it to the editing page. There are some options in the bottom right corner of the open window: align, stretch, tile, shadow, etc.
      • Look through the page wall options where you can choose a pattern or a solid colour. Then click and drag it to the editing page. There will be some options in the bottom right corner of the open window if you choose a pattern: align, tile or shadow. A solid colour wall can only be shadowed.
    • There are no small black box editing tool options for this element because the addition options are directly in the “Wall” window.
